Accessibility statement

MotionSpec builds tools that check web animation for accessibility. We hold our own site to the same standard. This statement covers motionspec.dev: the free motion check, the documentation, the pricing pages and the Motion Report you receive after purchase. The npm package and the hosted MCP connector have no user interface of their own and are not covered here.

Target standard

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

Conformance status

We have not yet completed a full manual audit against WCAG 2.2 AA, so we do not claim full conformance. What we have checked so far, on 2 November 2026:

  • Automated testing. axe-core 4.10 (WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 rules for Level A and AA) found no violations on the home page, /motion-check, /pricing, /docs, /privacy, /about and /for/agencies. Automated tools find only part of all accessibility barriers.
  • Motion. A site-wide prefers-reduced-motion: reduce rule covers every CSS animation and transition. Our own checker finds no unguarded CSS motion on the site. The free motion check uses a small amount of script-driven animation, and that script checks the reduced-motion preference too.
  • Structure. Pages declare their language and start with a “Skip to content” link.

Known limitations

  • Motion Report. The report is sent by email immediately after purchase, as a web page with a PDF copy. Use the web version as the main format; we have not yet checked the PDF for tags and reading order. Text in the report meets the 4.5:1 contrast ratio (corrected on 2 November 2026).
  • Payment. Checkout runs on Stripe, a third party. Its accessibility is outside our control. If you cannot complete a purchase, write to us and we will help.

Technical details

The site uses HTML, CSS, WAI-ARIA and JavaScript. Text content can be read without JavaScript. The free motion check needs JavaScript to run.
